Closings & Delays

Grays Ferry Early Learning Academy strives to meet the needs of families who must work regardless of the weather. While we recognize it is the responsibility of the family to determine if they feel safe transporting their children to us during inclement weather, we must concern ourselves with our responsibility for the safety of all families and staff. For this reason, we might open late on icy mornings, close early during heavy snows, or close all day if necessary. When necessary, we will open on a two-hour delay to allow time for the roads to be treated.

There are several ways to find out about Grays Ferry Early Learning Academy. We use an automated communication system, Procare, for snow closing, delays, and other family communication. This system will send a text and/or email to all Grays Ferry Early Learning Academy families whom we have updated contacted information. Therefore, it is important that contact information is up-to-date at all times in your child’s file. In addition, we will post information about closings or delays on the homepage of our website (, the center’s Facebook page (, and or Instagram (

PLEASE NOTE: Information may also be found online when the center decides to close or delay the opening at and

Also, CBS3 will scroll announcements and list the centers name on Eyewitness News. Due to character restrictions, the text Grays Ferry Early Learning will be displayed.

Health & Safety Protocols

As we re-open our center, there are new health and safety protocols in place.  You will notice the following:

Same person will drop-off and pick-up child(ren)

The same family member or designated person should drop off and pick up the child every day.

Daily health checks for children & staff

children and staff will be screened for symptoms.  Designated staff will take temperature with a non-touch thermometer.

Limiting non-essential items in the center

in an effort to mitigate the spread of the virus, no strollers, large blankets or pillows is permitted inside the center.

Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting is intensified

We already use the national standards and will continue to follow the CDC guidelines. High-touch surface will be disinfected multiple times throughout the day. Toys will cleaned and rotated.

Temporary exclusion of child if they become ill

A dedicated space for teacher to care for sick child away from other children.

Stay home when sick

If your child has been sick, we ask that they stay home for at least 72 hours and have been symptom free without fever reducing medication.

Travel Guidance (domestically or internationally)

Families are asked to quarantine themselves, per CDC guidelines, before returning to Grays Ferry Early Learning Academy.

Protective equipment

All teachers will wear masks.
